HealthyYum Weekly Challenge. Last week's challenge theme chosen by DK (of ChefinYou.com) was Whole Grains. There were many fantastic looking entries including and the photo DK selected as her favorite is Teff Porridge posted by Eat This.

Congratulations - a pair of Reusable Shopping Bags is our present to you, so look out for an email with the details. The winning recipe uses Teff grains. Have you heard of it? Food & Healthy TidBits. The tiny Chia seed is no longer relegated to '70's nostalgia. Chia packs a nutritional punch with 18% of the daily value of calcium, more Omega 3 than salmon or flaxseed, along 4 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber per 28 grams. It is gluten-free, lactose-free, and low glycemic.
The winner of our weekly challenge will receive 3 boxes of Chia Goodness Cereal. This delicious raw cereal combines chia with hulled hemp seeds, buckwheat, Celtic Sea Salt, fruit and nuts. Just add liquid (hot or cold water or milk), and within minutes, Chia Goodness thickens and is ready to eat It can also be mixed with yogurt, fruit, used as a topping or added to recipes. Favorite Photos. Last week doggybloggy and somaR picked their favorites. This week Cate of Cate's World Kitchen.com is picking hers. I like the Roasted Red Pepper Humus posted by Christie's Corner, because it's one of my favorite snacks and it looks so pretty (and healthy) on cucumber rounds. I also like the Smoked Salmon and Eggplant Crostini contributed by Lucullian because they look so simple and elegant, plus they combine two of my favorite ingredients.

Cheryl also picked her two favorites, and she also chose the Smoked Salmon and Eggplant Crostini. She says, "I love how bright the picture looks -- the composition of it makes it almost like a work of art. The color and look of the crostini made me think of Japanese paintings! It made me want to eat eggplant -- and I don't even like eggplant!" Her other pick was Chola Mix - A Spicy Chickpea Snack. "I adore the colors and composition of the picture -- it also reminded me of the spicy nutty Indian snack mixes that vendors would sell at movie theaters when I was growing up in Singapore. These were nuts and grains spiced up with cumin and other curried spices. Sadly, you don't see them anymore these days. This picture made me nostalgic for the "old days."

Websites & Blogs We Heart.
burp_excuzme has many photos of her fantastic creation on HealthyYum (check out her Egg in a Kabocha-Eggplant Pancake), so I asked her to share with us 2 of her favorite websites that she gets inspiration from. She says, "I adore Pam's blog, For the love of cooking, because she always comes up with such gorgeous and colorful recipes that are not only simple and fresh but made mostly with seasonal ingredients. They seem to easy, yet are interesting and eclectic, ranging from Asian to Mexican flavors. She also always includes pictures of her ingredients and gives simple step-by-step picture tutorials. Gosh, just thinking about some of her beautiful dishes is already making me drool!
My other favorite blog is LK's blog at Healthy Delicious. Oh my God, you've GOT to check out her blog...it never fails to surprise and inspire me! She must be one of the most creative cooks I know, and all her flavor combinations are spot-on! With all her amazing and tantalizing recipes, it's ridiculously easy to eat and enjoy healthy foods!
Both of the above mentioned blogs have fabulous pictures to indulge in some serious food porn, and the persons behind the blogs are really sweet and nice, too."

Healthy Activities. Summer's winding down and we need to make the most of the time we have left. Make sure to get some sun for at least 15 minutes every day; this will help to get enough vitamin D, which helps our bodies absorb calcium. Try a little morning yoga on your balcony or porch; go for a jog; take a walk when you're on the phone. If you have kids, encourage them to enjoy the remaining days before schools starts up again!
