HealthyYum Weekly Challenge. Last week we to shine the spotlight on Tomatoes. You guys rocked this challenge and there were some very creative submissions. Katie from Eat This picked her favorite one. She said, "This was a hard decision, but I'm going to pick (Not so Sun) Dried Tomatoes by Eating Bird Food. I love the picture and it's a great alternative to buying sun dried tomatoes. I can't wait to make these for snacks.

From Tanya: My favorite photos this week are Bleu Cheese Salad, Falafel Croutons by ghweiss and Stuffed Peppers Trio by princessmisia. I love them both because they look beautiful, healthy and delicious, but they are both super easy to prepare (mucho important to me).

Websites & Blogs We Heart. RoseyRebecca was kind enough to share 2 websites that she gets inspiration for her healthy eats from.

"Two of my favorite food blogs are Eat Live Run and Healthy Tipping Point. Those were two of the blogs that got me into food blogging. I've tried so many new foods since I started blogging and it's a really great motivator to stay healthy! I love reading Eat Live Run because Jenna is so fun and her posts are always interesting. Caitlin from Healthy Tipping Point, has also been a great inspiration to me because you can tell she's just a real girl, living life day to day and being healthy. I also love that she started Operation Beautiful and does so many things to help out her community and her friends.

My blog is similar to Caitlin's and Jenna's. I document my daily healthy eats and workouts. Blogging has really helped me stay on track with maintaining my healthy weight. (I went from 135 lbs to 120lb and I owe a big part of that to blogging). I strive to show young women like myself that eating healthy can be delicious and realistic. It doesn't have be all diet food all the time. I also love the blogging community! Everyone is so supportive!!"

Healthy Eating News & TidBits. A new (August 2009) statement published in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association gives consumers more detailed guidance by recommending an upper limit on added-sugars intake (added sugars are sugars and syrups added to foods during processing or preparation as well as sugars and syrups that are added at the table).

"Most American women should consume no more than 100 calories of added sugars per day; most men, no more than 150 calories. That's about 6 teaspoons of added sugars a day for women and 9 for men. An upper limit for added sugars should be no more than half your discretionary calories." See all the details in the AHA press release.

Healthy Activities. Bored with your workout routine? Try these tips to spice things up: 1) Find a buddy! Not only will you have fun with a friend, you'll be less likely to cancel your sweat session. 2) Get some new tunes - some new music or podcasts might make the time fly by. 3) Try a new class that you haven't done before - spinning, yoga, pilates, zumba, bootcamp workouts, etc... 4) Sign up for a charity walk/run. It's for a good cause, and you'll get all the benefits of training.
